Lives and Properties Lost In Bimbilla Chieftaincy Clash


An alarming number of lives have been lost, while others persons are severely injured at Bimbilla during a clash during a chieftaincy related conflict in the Northern Region; and as well thousands of properties have been destroyed in same chieftaincy conflict.

A sub-chief’s house has been torched and other houses where burnt making people homeless, heaps of yams burnt and other items destroyed worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

Economic activities have come to a standstill in the area and a school in the area shut down as a result of the conflict.

It took the intervention of the security force comprising the Police Service and military men who were deployed to the area to keep order in the midst of the  disturbances.

Bimbilla has for sometime now been plagued with conflicts. It has, however, enjoyed relative peace in the past few years.

According to the Northern Regional Police PRO; ASP Ebenezer Tetteh women and children are the most victims to these unfortunate killings in the area while those injured where rushed to hospital.

He noted that, the fire exchanges between factions of the natives are in connection with a chieftaincy conflict.

Calm has been restored in Bimbilla following a curfew has been imposed on the area.
